1/16 Maintenance Notice CW6778

Today's high winds again blew off the heated rain gauge cone and heating sheet from the AccuWeather (CW6778) Davis weather station in the grass out by the gravel lot. As a result, anomalous rainfall was recorded into the "monthly rain" variable on CWOP (3.12") which can be ignored, and the anomalous console yearly total is now at 6.91" which should be subtracted from the yearly rainfall.

I have determined that the zip ties holding the heated rain gauge to the regular rain gauge have failed and I will replace them tonight, so this shouldn't happen again.

Long term, I will be replacing the older equipment with a new version of the weather station which does everything the old station did, and more.

1/5 Maintenance Update CW6778

Last night's high winds literally blew off the heated rain gauge cone and heating sheet from the AccuWeather (CW6778) Davis weather station in the grass out by the gravel lot. As a result, anomalous rainfall was recorded into the "monthly rain" variable on CWOP (2.00" then 1.71") which can be ignored, and a console yearly total of 3.69" which should be subtracted from the yearly rainfall.

The rain gauge heater may not work well or not at all until I can get a replacement sheet.
